About
From selling just 12 horses in its initial year of 2002, Castlebridge has risen to be the leading European sales agency by both numbers and gross. There have been records in both Ireland and England, with a string of substantial prices throughout each draft.
The Castlebridge Consignment catalogues approximately 300 horses each year which are divided equally between foals, yearlings and broodmares. Selling at all the major sales in England, Ireland, and France, Castlebridge regularly produces sale toppers and in 2008 sold the top priced broodmare in Europe at 1,700,000 guineas, whilst also being the leading consignor by European sales, a position it held again in 2009.
This success has been achieved through the support and loyalty of the clients. Until 2008 markets rose consistently, but even allowing for these buoyant markets, the Castlebridge sale figures make good reading. The consignment frequently achieves a higher percentage of sold lots than other vendors and has often achieved a ninety or even one hundred per cent clearance rate. At the Tattersalls December Mare Sale 2009 Castlebridge sold a remarkable 56 out of 60 lots presented.
